CIPD Change Agenda: Delivering
Public Services: Engaging and Energising People
Written by David Vere and Lindsay
Beaton, 2003
This report is the product of our
research study for the CIPD and Cabinet Office which
looked at how six public sector organisations tackled
the challenge of change. It reports on effective practice
under the following main themes:
Energise People by:
Creating an energising goal to crystallise the commitment
of people in the organisation.
Leading from the front by showing integrity and establishing
trust.
Enable People by:
Invigorating the top team by strengthening its leadership
capability.
Building a culture of empowerment by opening the door
to ideas from people across the organisation.
Working within the community the organisation serves
to forge understanding and clarify expectations.
Empower People by:
Forging teams by releasing people's energy so they make
it happen.
Aligning HR processes and practices to create greater
latent capability.
Navigating the change journey by seizing chances and
adapting the approach.

Making Training Pay
Written by Lindsay Beaton and Steve
Richards, 1996
We developed this evaluation manual for
the CIPD and IIP UK. It provides a tool kit to enable
organisations to adopt a structured approach to training
evaluation in order to assess the value for money of
training investment.
