Wembley sees HR get Fit for Business
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Our latest report for the CIPD, showing what HR needs to do to become Fit for Business was launched at Wembley stadium on 10 October.

The report, Fit for Business: Transforming HR in the public sector, written for the CIPD by David Vere and Lynne Butler, sets out the building blocks needed to create a transformed HR function. It is based on action research conducted with a consortium of 9 public sector organisations including HM Revenue and Customs, the National Audit Office, Royal Borough of Kingston and British Transport Police.

This is the second report published by CIPD on this theme and our previous report was founded on the work of our earlier consortium which produced the first Fit for Business report: Building a strategic HR function in the public sector in 2005.

Our guest speakers for the conference at Wembley Stadium were:
Linda Holbeche, Research and Policy Director, CIPD
Roger Black, World Champion and Olympic Medallist
Martin Tiplady, HR Director, Metropolitan Police Service
Phil Badley, President PPMA and Service Director, OD, Stockport Council
